25 April 2025. Our previous post presented some of the important documentation and related conclusions regarding the Causey Clan of Virginia and the probably connection to Maryland. Before we move on to the study of Dorchester County, Colonial Maryland, herein I offer some added notes on Virginia.
Causeys Cleare was the 1620 Land Grant to Nathaniel and Thomasine Causey. I have finally discovered and offer a map to that exact location.
The following presentation offers the best evidence I’ve found so far of a link between the Virginia Causey clan and the migration of some of them to Maryland. Certainly there was ongoing communications between the Causey families of the New World and those remaining in the Old World. Travel back and forth between the two “Worlds” continued for centuries. Some stayed in America, some returned to England, Ireland, or Scotland. I believe the following analysis presents prima facie evidence that the vast majority of the American Causey clan, to this day, can track their lineage to the Causey family line of Nathaniel Causey “an olde soldier of Captain John Smith”.
Finally, I offer a potpourri of documents and links for the Causey clans of early Virginia and some of Colonial Maryland:
