The Big Y-700 test from Family Tree DNA is a Y DNA test that analyzes millions of locations on the Y chromosome to reveal mutations and haplogroups. It is the most complete Y DNA test offered by Family Tree DNA. It reports on your paternal ancestry and allows you to find living relatives on your male line with greater confidence than other Y DNA tests. I had gone through the steps up to Y-111 but wanted to make sure I had as much Y-DNA information as possible. So, last month I paid the extra couple of hundred for the Big Y-700. Here’s what I found:
From Family Tree DNA: “Your Haplogroup Story: T-FTE36788
The Y chromosome is passed from father to son remaining mostly unaltered across generations, except for small traceable changes in DNA. By tracking these changes, we constructed a family tree of humankind where all male lineages trace back to a single common ancestor who lived hundreds of thousands of years ago. This human tree allows us to explore lineages through time and place and to uncover the modern history of your direct paternal surname line and the ancient history of our shared ancestors.
The T-FTE36788 Story:
T-FTE36788’s paternal line was formed when it branched off from the ancestor T-CTS6280 and the rest of mankind around 1850 BCE.
info:
This date is an estimate based on genetic information only. With a 95% probability, the ancestor T-CTS6280 was born between the years 2694 and 1183 BCE. The most likely estimate is 1870 BCE, rounded to 1850 BCE.
The man who is the most recent common ancestor of this line is estimated to have been born around 1750 CE. This date is an estimate based on genetic information only. With a 95% probability, the most recent common ancestor of all members of haplogroup T-FTE36788 was born between the years 1555 and 1863 CE. The most likely estimate is 1738 CE, rounded to 1750 CE. He is the most recent paternal line ancestor of all members of this group.”
So, as of now only three of us have completed the Big Y-700; Windle Ray Causey (me), James Allen Causey and Harvey Lavoyd Causey Jr.
James Allen Causey descends from Captain William Causey (1744-1828) through Ransom; Harvey Causey from Philip Causey (1704-1778); and myself from Thomas Causey, Sr. (1690-1776). If our lineages are correct, our common ancestor would have reached his majority by 1690 with his first two sons being Thomas Sr. and Philip-I. I believe there is substantial evidence Thomas and Philip’s father was John Causey-II, grandson of Nathaniel and Thomasine Causey of Jamestown Colony, Virginia. I further postulate that Captain William Causey was from Cork, Ireland and Y-DNA cousin to Nathaniel Causey.
What I would like to ask is that more of you Causey boys get the Big Y-700 to see if our Causey line is pure and connected back to John or William or even Nathaniel. We know our common ancestor was born between the years 1555 and 1863. I say between 1555 and 1670. We also need to continue researching the Scot-Irish connection. There is no trace of English on my father’s Y-DNA, half Scot, half Irish.
Good luck on your research.
Windle Causey
